QUESTION:
I have noticed that I have cracks on the wall of my home. They mainly start at the corners of my windows. Can this be fixed?

SOLUTION:
The cracks can be filled with a matching mortar. Mix the mortar with water and an acrylic concrete bonding agent. Rake out any loose mortar and insert the new mortar. Do a small area and let dry to check for color match.

Before filling cracks, we advise that you investigate what is causing the cracking. Sometimes the wall has to have a way for some movement and if you fill cracks up the wall may crack in another place. One thing to note is whether the cracking is worse when weather is dry. This may be an indication that future cracking will occur.

In some cases the weight of the wall has simply settled since it was constructed and the repairing has no ill effects.
